Teresa Chai was born on May 3, 1962. She was a missionary to Bangladesh for eight years from 1991-1999 during which time developed a literacy program using audio-Scriptures for the Bible Society there. She also headed a development project among Bangladeshi youth working in a Danish Mission called a “School for Life” teaching them life skills as well as vocational training in computers and English. All these programs were open for people from Muslim, Hindu, tribal, as well as Christian religions. Served with Asian Outreach, a Hong Kong based mission agency for 4 years. Ordained by the Assemblies of God Malaysia in 1995. She served as a Central District Executive Officer from 2010-2012 for the fellowship. She was the President of Alpha Omega International College, Malaysia, a multi-denominational Bible college.
Areas of Research Interest, Writings and Teachings
Published articles in the National Evangelical Churches Fellowship’s Watchmen series as well as in Kairos magazine. She has served as a member of the NECF Research Committee and on the Joint Consultative Group of Pentecostals and World Council of Churches for several years. She has spoken and taught in countries such as America, Bangladesh, China, Denmark, Hungary, India, Romania, Singapore and South Africa.
Family and Personal Interests
She is the youngest of five children, three brothers and a sister, to the late John and Mary Chai. Her interests include: traveling, swimming, badminton, volleyball, nature walks, reading, movies, music, indoor board/card games, and watching performing arts.
